At this level solar suitability is estimated from aerial photographs of urban and rural areas. This analysis of allows to rapidly assess roof areas, orientation, presence and significance of obstacles, etc. We use this information to estimate the distribution of solar suitable sites, the proportion of these sites to the total number of buildings, and total area of suitable roofs in the study area. These calculations allowed for general evaluation of electricity and heat generation potential in this part of municipality.
